What is the biggest challenge you're facing right now?
growth
Most of us know what our biggest challenge is — we just don't sit down and say it plainly. We circle it in our heads while doing other things. This prompt asks you to stop circling and name it, on the page, in one straight sentence.
Naming it doesn't solve it. But it usually makes it smaller than the version that lives in your head.
Why this helps
Putting the challenge into words takes it out of the vague, anxious space where it grows. You see its real shape — what it actually is, what it isn't, where it touches your life. That clarity tends to reveal at least one next step, even when you thought there were none. It also separates you from the problem; you're the writer, not the thing.
When to use it
Useful in mornings that already feel heavy, before bed when worry won't loosen, or at the start of a week you want to handle deliberately. Also helpful if you keep saying 'I don't know what's wrong' — this prompt makes you find out.
How to answer
State the challenge in one short sentence.
Name what makes it hard, specifically.
Note what's already in your control.
Note what isn't.
Choose one small action you can take in the next 48 hours.
Other ways to ask the same thing
What's the thing in your life right now that needs the most attention?
Which problem keeps stealing focus from everything else?
If you could only work on one hard thing this month, which would it be?
If you get stuck
It's tempting to write a list. Don't. Lists let the real one hide. Force yourself to pick the heaviest one, even if it makes you uncomfortable to write it down. The discomfort is the signal that you've found the right one.
Example entry
The honest sentence is: I don't think my current role is right for me anymore, and I'm scared to admit it. What makes it hard is that I'm respected there, paid well, and the alternative is unclear. What's in my control: telling one trusted person out loud this week. What isn't: how the team responds when I eventually move. The action for the next 48 hours is to write the bad first draft of a new CV, just to see how it feels.
